Dear Friends,

I wanted to share the results of a recent poll my campaign commissioned.  The full memo is below, but the good news is I am in Great Shape to win re-election!

As your conservative, Republican senator, the people of Senate District 29 have blessed me with their votes three times since 1998! I have been standing on the front lines, helping to keep taxes low, protect our families, and protect our most basic rights like The Second Amendment.

Because of my leadership on these most important conservative issues, 54% of people in the Republican primary have a favorable view of the job I do as their Senator, and 51% say they will vote to send me back to Montgomery to help lead the fight for our Republican Values!

To quote Glenn Bolger of the respected Washington, DC polling firm Public Opinion Strategies, who conducted this poll: “Republicans in this district have come to know Harri Anne through her years of working to represent the Wiregrass at home and in Montgomery, and they like what she has done.”

My opponents will almost certainly run a negative and divisive campaign – they will try to misrepresent my record, and even spread vicious lies and rumors about my personal life. These powerful forces have a different agenda from Main Street voters in places like Dothan, Slocomb, Daleville, and all the towns of this district. They have no plan to bring jobs to our area, and they have no message aside from what suits their own interests!

I am proud of my record as your senator.  I was voted Most Conservative Member of the Senate in 2004. I was awarded The National Federation of Small Business “Guardian of Small Business” award every year from 2002 to 2006.  I was inducted into the Sergeant Dixie Club of the Alabama Defense Force and I am a member of the National Rifle Association and the Association of the United States Army. And through the years, I have worked as a volunteer in Republican campaigns at the local and state level.

I hope you are as encouraged by these results as I am. I look forward to reaching out to the voters in the district – and I look forward to sharing my vision for the future of The Wiregrass.

Key Findings

1.

Harri Anne Smith enjoys strong favorables in her district.

Senator Harri Anne Smith's tireless work for the people in her district is reflected in the impressive 54% favorables she enjoys with GOP primary voters in the 29th Senate district. Republicans in this district have come to know Harri Anne through her years of working to represent the Wiregrass at home and in Montgomery, and they like what she has done.

2.

Harri Anne is over 50% on the ballot and leads George Flowers by more than twenty points.

Harri Anne begins the primary campaign with a 21 point lead over George Flowers (51% Smith/30% Flowers). Intensity also strongly favors Harri Anne, with 35% of primary voters saying they will definitely vote for her, compared with just 16% for Flowers. The high level of committed support for Harri Anne is another sign of the way her work in the State Senate has resonated with Republican voters in the district.

3.

Support for Harri Anne increases on the informed ballot.

After voters are read a series of positive and negative messages about both candidates, Harri Anne expands her lead on the ballot (60% Smith/ 27% Flowers). This positive movement on the ballot is a clear sign that not only does Harri Anne begin the campaign with a decided advantage on the ballot, she also has the edge when it comes to the message she will be delivering to the district during the course of the primary campaign.
